I’m super excited to show you my latest make – The Ultimate Shift Dress by Sew Over It! This one has been on my ‘to sew’ list for a while and now that it’s warmer (sort of?), I really want to bring dresses back into my life.
In the true spirit of spring, it started to rain when we were taking pictures. No worries though! Umbrellas make great props. 😉
This was a seriously easy project and very beginner-friendly. No buttons, no zippers, just good times! If you’re new to sewing clothing but want to make something versatile, comfy, and pretty darn adorable, this is your dress!
For me it came together in a matter of days, and there were no major issues. I did make a mock-up before I cut into my good fabric (which I highly recommend!), but the only adjustment I needed was to shift up the bust dart a few inches.
I also love love love this fabric. I bought it at our lovely neighbourhood Fiberlilly, and it was a real find. It’s like a magical mix of a knit and a cotton. Very easy to work with, but enough stretch to give it extra ease. Plus, the print is awesomely awesome.
More makes are coming your way very soon!
